As the proverb says: "If you understand who is the fool at the poker table after 10 minutes, it's you". Don't be fool - be the man, play poker.

Omaha: A Poker Variation You Should Truly Look Into

A lot of concentration in today’s world of poker falls on Texas Hold’em. It can always be found on the television and in advertisements, while the majority of brand new poker players that play poker on the internet do so because of this particular game. However, one variation of poker that is also catching on quickly would be Omaha. This game happens to be quite similar to Texas Hold’em; however they do have their differences.

Dealing

Omaha begins with the dealer’s two left players placing a small blind and a big blind. Now, the greatest difference between Omaha and Texas Hold’em is the fact that Omaha table players each receive four face-down cards instead of just two. Players need to be careful when thinking up potential hands since they can only make use of two of their hole cards along with the three community cards to build their hand.

First Betting Round (pre- flop)

After dealing, players get the opportunity to place their bets. The first person to go would be the left person of both blinds. They can fold, call the big blind or raise it. The same goes for any player after him.

Second Betting Round (post-flop)

After the first betting round finishes, dealers have to burn a card and place three face-up cards onto the table, known as the flop. The flop gives existing players a chance to bet and see what type of hands they can build. An additional betting round happens here and players will have the exact same options as during the pre-flop betting round.

Third Betting Round (post-turn)

After flop bets have been made, dealers have to burn another card before dealing out the fourth card, known as the turn. The dealer’s first left player who is still in the game will begin with betting.

Showdowns (post-river)

After turn bets finish, the last and fifth community card will be dealt onto the table, known as the river. With every card already laid out, players can get the information they require to make their last bets. The exact same options will apply for this betting round as before. After bets have been made, each player will reveal his hand to find out who holds the greatest one. The dealer’s first left player has to show his hand first.
